Associate

Ben Lloyd

BSc Economics and Social Studies
Graduate Diploma in Law
Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice
Solicitor of England and Wales
Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning (Incomplete – completion expected 2025)

Ben commenced his career after qualifying as a solicitor in the UK in 2010, where he specialised in financial services regulatory litigation with Norton Rose Fulbright.  Following his migration to Australia he commenced a career in Australian financial services in 2015. He has acquired an in-depth knowledge of the specific requirements that are needed from Australian private clients and regulators, in his roles in business development at FE Fundinfo, Money Management and Super Review, and more recently as Head of Due Diligence Solutions for Castle Hall Diligence. Ben's experience within financial services encompasses law, communication, administration, operational due diligence, ESG and regulatory consultancy.

Changes to financial services legislation in 2017 has had a dramatic impact on the number of registered Financial Advisers in Australia – reducing from approximately 28,000 in 2019 to approximately 15,500 currently. Ben noted the shortage of advisers in Australia and the extent of unmet advice needs. He therefore commenced the Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning in early 2024, and his statutory Professional Year in August 2024. He plans to complete his Professional Year and the ASIC qualifying examination later this year.

Ben’s academic, vocational and life experience will form a firm foundation for his role as an adviser and he is looking forward to leveraging these in support of Buxton Private Wealth's clients and families, on their journey to wealth.
